Common questions before you get in touch

These come up in nearly every initial conversation, so we thought we would answer them here.

How much does a typical engagement cost?

The two-day diagnostic is £1,800 plus VAT. Full engagements range from £12,000 to £45,000 depending on scope and duration. We quote a fixed fee after the diagnostic so there are no surprises. We do not bill by the hour because it creates the wrong incentive: slow work earns more.

Do you work with businesses outside Manchester?

Yes. Most of our clients are in the North West, but we regularly work with companies in the Midlands and London. We need at least one week on site at the start of any engagement, so travel costs are included in our fee for locations within 150 miles of Manchester. Beyond that, we add a transparent travel supplement.

What industries do you specialise in?

Manufacturing, wholesale distribution and professional services make up about 80 per cent of our project history. We have also worked with hospitality groups and construction firms. The common thread is owner-managed businesses with turnover between £2 million and £40 million.

How quickly can you start?

We can usually schedule a diagnostic within two to three weeks of your initial enquiry. Full engagements start within four to six weeks after the diagnostic report is delivered, depending on our current workload and your team's availability.

What happens if the diagnostic shows no clear opportunity?

We tell you. It has happened eleven times in eight years. You still receive the diagnostic report with our findings, and you keep the £1,800 fee's worth of analysis. We would rather be honest than sell a project we do not believe in.

What to expect after you submit this form

Within one working day, one of our consultants will reply by email to acknowledge your message and ask a few follow-up questions. These usually cover your company size, the nature of the challenge, and any deadlines you are working to.

If it looks like a good fit, we will suggest a thirty-minute phone call to discuss the situation in more detail. That call is free and carries no obligation. During the call we will explain whether a two-day diagnostic makes sense or whether a different approach would serve you better.

After the call, if both sides want to proceed, we send a one-page engagement letter for the diagnostic. Payment is due before the first site visit. We then arrange dates that work for your team and confirm the logistics by email.

The whole process from first enquiry to diagnostic start typically takes two to three weeks. If your situation is urgent, let us know in the form and we will do our best to accelerate.
